(The following is the obituary for a daughter-in-law of William Edgar McCulloh)
Mrs. Miriam Caroline McCulloh, 83,
wife of the Rev. Charles W. McCulloh Sr., of 1579 South Main Street, Mansfield, a former city resident, died at 12:50 a.m. Sunday,
June 17, 1990, at the home of her son, Eugene R., of Mansfield, Pennsylvania following an extended illness.
She was a great-granddaughter
of the Rev. Sebastian Musser, a founder of the Evangelical Church, now merged with the United Methodist Church, and spent most of
her life in church work.
She attended Messiah Academy, now Messiah College, at Grantham. While there, she spent her summers as a home
mission worker with the Mission Board of the Brethren in Christ Church.
After her marriage, she was active in the parishes served by
her husband, often conducting services in his absence. Among the churches they served were Fox Hollow Brethren in Christ Church, Montoursville;
Cross-roads Brethren in Christ Church, Mount Joy; Keystone-Perry United Methodist Church, Marysville; Beavertown-Troxellville United
Methodist Church, Beavertown; Pennsdale United Methodist Church, Pennsdale, and First United Methodist Church, Renovo.
After her husband's
retirement in 1978, they served the Water-ville United Methodist Charge for 10 years.
She and her husband observed their 57th wedding
anniversary last Dec. 10.
Mrs. McCulloh was a member of the Newberry United Method-ist Church. Born Nov. 30, 1906, in Centre County,
she was a daughter of William B. and Susan M. Ripka Musser.
Surviving, besides her husband and son, of Mansfield, are another son,
the Rev. Charles W. Jr., of Carlisle; a daughter, Nancy Pilkinton, of Pennsville, N.J.; a sister, Edna Musser, of Coburn; eight grandchildren
and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the church, West Fourth and Diamond Streets, with the
Rev. David Dearing, her pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Montoursville Cemetery.
Friends may call at Spitler's, 733 Broad Street,
Montoursville, from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
