(The following is the obituary for a son of William Edgar McCulloh)
REV. CHARLES W. MCCULLOH, SR., 89, retired pastor of
the United Methodist Church, of 1579 South Main Street, Mansfield, died at 7:40 a.m., Saturday, January 3, 1998, at the home of his
son and daughter-in-law, Eugene R. and Margaret, of Mansfield following an extended illness.
Born August 7, 1908, in Morrison, Illinois,
he was the son of the late William and Mariah McCulloh.
He attended Messiah Academy, now Messiah College in 1928; PA State University
Course, Lycoming College, Night School and Messiah Extension-Courses.
In 1931 he became a licensed minister in the Brethren in Christ
Church and was ordained in 1948. His first pastorate began in 1942 to the Fox Hollow Brethren in Christ congregation, Montoursville,
R.D, where he served faithfully till 1958. From this parish six young people entered full-time Christian service under his ministry.
In 1958 he accepted the call as pastor to the Crossroads Brethren in Christ Church, Mount Joy.
Joining the Evangelical United Brethren
Church, now merged with the United Methodist Church, in 1959, his pastorates were; Keystone-Perry United Methodist Charge, Marysville,
1959-1963; Beavertown-Troxellville United Methodist Charge, Beavertown, 1963-1968; Pennsdale United Methodist Church, Pennsdale, 1968-1971;
First United Methodist Church, Renovo, 1971-1978.
After retiring in 1978, he served the Waterville United Methodist charge for 10 years.
He
was preceded in death by twin sons, Melvin and Marvin in 1933, a daughter, Catherine Louise in 1943, his wife of fifty-seven years,
Miriam Caroline Musser McCulloh in 1990 and a great-granddaughter, Mahgen Nicole Reichwein in 1991. He was a member of the Newberry
United Methodist Church and while living with his son in Mansfield, Pennsylvania attended the Covington Baptist Church, Covington.
Surviving
are; one daughter, Nancy Pilkinton of Pennsville, NJ; two sons, Eugene R. of Mansfield and the Rev., Charles W. Jr. of York; three
sisters, Vida Yoder of Mechanicsburg, Lois Keefer of Manheim and Eunice Bainbridge of York; eight grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.

may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad Street, Montoursville. The service of Christian celebration will
be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the Newberry United Methodist Church, West Fourth and Diamond Streets, Williamsport, with one-hour
visitation preceding the service with the Rev. David Dearing officiating, assisted by the Rev. Richard Clark, pastor. The Rev. Ted
Rood of Covington Baptist, Covington will minister in music. Burial will be in Montoursville Cemetery.
